Angry at the thief, the American decided to become a detective and investigate the regular thefts she was experiencing. Someone regularly stole packages from her mailbox.
To end this, the woman from California decided to use a technological innovation from a few years ago. She bought and sent a small device to her own address, which helped her track down the persistent, malicious thieves.
The small device helped catch the thieves. The American found a way
The Apple AirTag locator that the American used is a popular item that can also be bought in the US for around $29 (CAD 40). The invention helped track down two criminals.
The case was publicized by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office. Officials described how the county resident, who had experienced theft from her mailbox several times in Los Alamos, found a way.
The case concluded with her buying an Apple AirTag locator for $29 (CAD 40). Since its market release in 2021, the item has become very popular.
Its advantages were revealed once again in recent days when a postal package addressed to the California resident disappeared from her mailbox again. This time, however, it was a package she had sent to herself. A locator was placed inside.
The police quickly reached an apartment building in Santa Maria, about 25 kilometres (16 miles) from the post office, and arrested the two suspects. The truth came to light.
A 27-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man stole the package with the locator. Many stolen items from various mailboxes were found in their apartment. Items from packages that the resourceful California resident had been waiting for previously without success were also found.
The sheriff's department praised the victim for contacting the authorities and having a good idea of how to catch the criminals. Authorities also emphasized that the American's method was more sensible than attempting direct confrontation with the thieves.
