Bruch brewery's final chapter: 322 years in the making

This is the ultimate end of the family brewery Bruch. The traditional company from Saarbrücken, which operated for 322 years, has declared bankruptcy yet again. Its owner fought until the end, but probably nothing remains but the rights to the brand name.

According to portalspozywczy.pl, the district court in Saarbrücken appointed a bankruptcy trustee in connection with the bankruptcy. Lawyer Stephan Hainz has already started his work and aims to get an overview of the remaining values.

The end of the Bruch brewery. It has struggled with problems for years

Bruch Brewery was considered an iconic company in the Saar Basin region of Germany. The first serious problems appeared in 2018, and since then, the company has been insolvent multiple times. The senior partner, Thomas Bruch, 's tax debts reached substantial amounts.

In the last six years, the company has undergone two bankruptcy proceedings. The crew has significantly decreased.

Fundamental changes to save the brewery, founded in 1702, happened three years ago. At that time, Lukas Bruch took over the company, running it as a GmbH. Shortly after, the company became insolvent once again.

The company was forced to sell the "Stiefel" restaurant at St. Johanner Markt in the centre of Saarbrücken and the brewery, where Bruch had its headquarters since 1900.

Mounting problems resulted in the relocation of beer production to Rhineland-Palatinate in 2023. However, according to reports, the Kirner Brewery, located about 100 kilometres northeast of Saarbrücken, still brews some varieties of Bruch beer.

Lukas Bruch assured that he intended to continue the family business in the Saar Basin. However, the local newspaper "Saarbrücker Zeitung" suspects that now he only has the rights to the brand name left. Just before the last bankruptcy, Bruch Brewery employed only four workers.
