In the fall and winter, citrus fruits reign supreme. They are not only a vitamin bomb but also an excellent ingredient for natural cleaning products. After drinking the juice or eating the fruit, save the peel. It's a real treasure trove of natural essential oils that are perfect for household cleaning.
Homemade dust cleaner
Grapefruits are a great and healthy snack. Their nutritional properties are so diverse that they can support health in many ways. Weight loss, improving skin and hair condition, or boosting immunity are just some of their benefits. Although the thick skin isn't edible, it's perfect for cleaning.
A cleaning solution made from vinegar and grapefruit will not only effectively remove stubborn dust but also give furniture a natural shine and a fresh, citrus fragrance. And it's all simple, cheap, and eco-friendly.
Prepare:
- Peels from 2 grapefruits,
- about 500 millilitres of vinegar,
- a jar,
- a spray bottle.
How to do it?
- Clean the peels from membranes and any leftover pulp.
- Divide them into smaller pieces, place them in the jar, and pour vinegar over them.
- Cover the jar with a cloth and secure with a rubber band or close the lid and set aside for 5 days.
- After this time, remove the peels from the liquid and dilute it with water so that the vinegar aroma is not sharp and irritating.
- Pour it into a spray bottle.
Now, simply spray the furniture surfaces with the solution while cleaning and gently wipe with a soft cloth. The dust will not only disappear quickly but will also settle less on surfaces. Vinegar and grapefruit essential oils create a protective layer. This natural cleaner is effective and safe for health.
Grapefruit helpful in cleaning
The vinegar and grapefruit solution will also work well in the bathroom. It will effectively remove stubborn dirt and clean grout, and it will also help combat mould in grout, shower cabins, and on silicone seals. Vinegar will remove limescale from faucets and sinks, giving the bathroom a fresh look.
Grapefruit peel combined with baking soda is a natural duo that can handle even burnt-on grease, dried food residues, or deposits from coffee and tea. Sprinkle the dampened peel generously with baking soda to create a thick paste. This homemade "scrub" works excellently on pots, ovens, stovetops, and sinks.
