The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff informed about the third incident in June involving North Korean soldiers. The regime's military in Pyongyang briefly found themselves on the southern side. The border breach occurred on Thursday, June 20, around 10 PM Eastern Time. However, the information about the breach reached the public only the next day.
Upon noticing soldiers from the North, South Korean soldiers began broadcasting warning messages from loudspeakers at the border. The South Korean military also decided to fire warning shots. The North Korean soldiers returned to their country's territory.
Once again, the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff indicate that the border crossing occurred most likely accidentally. They added that after returning to North Korean territory, the soldiers resumed their work, which they continued even during the night hours.
This is the third incident in June
The Thursday incident at the Korean border was the third in the past month. As "Rzeczpospolita" reminds us, the previous ones occurred on June 9 and 18. Each time, 20-30 soldiers crossed the demarcation line. It was also indicated that it was probably not an intentional act by the military of Kim Jong Un's regime.
South Korea emphasizes that since April of this year, the North Korean army has been working on creating a defensive zone at the border, which is meant to make it more difficult to breach. Barriers are being erected here, which are most likely anti-tank in nature. Decisions have also been made to lay minefields in the border zone.
