Experts from the Institute of Scientific and Academic Computer Network warn against scammers who prey on people searching for accommodations on well-known services. Booking.com users should be particularly cautious. The experts indicate how to proceed.

The Institute of Scientific and Academic Computer Network Research warns about a campaign in which fraudsters attempt to take over the accounts and money of internet users using the Booking.com service.

Scam on Booking. Experts raise the alarm

Experts explain that scammers use previously hijacked accounts of properties listed on Booking.com. Using the obtained data, they send messages to people who have booked accommodations, informing them that they need to confirm the reservation under the threat of cancellation.

It is important to carefully check the site's address where you enter your login details to protect against harmful effects. In these cases, a domain similar to the service's actual website address is prepared, but closer inspection reveals the forgery.

Booking.com targeted by scammers again

Unfortunately, Booking.com is not targeted by scammers for the first time. As we reported, fraudsters impersonate this service and offer simple remote work for a few minutes daily, which is supposed to bring significant profits.

In reality, fraudsters rely on customers' inattention. They are tempted by the vision of quick earnings and will make a transfer. Their goal is to gain access to online banking, allowing them to withdraw all the money accumulated in the victim's account.
