Carol Bongiovi, the mother of the famous musician Jon Bon Jovi, passed away on Tuesday at Monmouth Medical Centre in Long Branch, New Jersey, at the age of 83.
In a Tuesday statement to "People" magazine, Bon Jovi confirmed his mother's death.
Our mother was a force to be reckoned with. Her spirit and can-do attitude shaped this family,” said the rock star in a statement.
According to reports by "People," the family will hold a private funeral service at Holmdel Funeral Home.
Originally from Erie, Pennsylvania, Carol enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1959. She met her future husband, John Bongiovi Sr., with whom she was married for 63 years, during her service. The couple then moved to Sayreville, New Jersey.
50 years on Bon Jovi's stage
Jon Bon Jovi has been singing for over 40 years, starting his first band at the age of 13. The debut album of the band Bon Jovi was released in 1984, and in June of this year, their 16th studio album "Forever" was released, featuring the track "Legendary".
Unfortunately, the band will not be able to be heard live, at least in the near future, because their frontman has not yet fully regained his vocal abilities after vocal cord surgery in 2022. It turned out that one of them was gradually deteriorating.
