Bluesky's user surge amid trust decline in musk's X platform

The American social media platform Bluesky is celebrating a significant success, with over a million users signing up daily. This marks a trend in social media, as new users flock to Bluesky due to changes and declining trust in Elon Musk's X platform.

The decline in trust in the X platform is leading to a notable increase in the popularity of alternative social networks. This user migration trend is evident in newer alternatives to the major social media giants.

Bluesky, an American social media platform founded in 2021 by Jack Dorsey, announced on Friday that over a million new users joined in one day. This information was shared on the service's official accounts on both Bluesky and X: "it's official — 1,000,000 people have joined Bluesky in just the last day!!! welcome."

Since mid-September, Bluesky users have grown from 10 million to 16 million. The platform is becoming more popular among users disenchanted with X changes.

Threads, a messaging app owned by Meta, is also experiencing a significant increase in users. Since the beginning of November, the number of Threads users has risen by over 15 million, reaching 290 million, according to Meta's report on Thursday.

According to AFP, one of the main reasons for this user migration is the decline in the credibility of the X platform, previously known as Twitter. After Elon Musk took over the service in October 2022, content moderation rules were relaxed, allowing accounts associated with the far right to return.

Some media outlets, such as the British "The Guardian" and the Spanish "La Vanguardia," have decided to withdraw from X, describing it as a "toxic media platform" that promotes disinformation.
