A pre-production version of the Avenger 4xe debuted at the beginning of 2024, but it has only now officially joined the lineup. Like most products from the Stellantis group, the four-wheel-drive variant is based on a 1.2-litre gasoline engine with 136 horsepower. It is supported by two electric motors with a power of 28.5 horsepower each—one on each axle. Combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission, these allow for emission-free driving at low speeds.
Of course, the 4xe is the most off-road capable version of the Avenger. It features 21 centimetres of ground clearance (1 centimetre more than standard) and a substantial 40 centimetres of wading depth.
For a city SUV, the off-road angles are also quite impressive—an approach angle of 22 degrees, a departure angle of 35 degrees, and a breakover angle of 21 degrees. In critical situations, we will also appreciate the 22.7:1 reducer placed on the rear axle, capable of providing up to 1,901 Newton-metres of instantaneous torque on the rear wheels.
Customers interested in the 4xe variant must be prepared to spend at least $34,100—that is the price for the Upland version. Meanwhile, the more luxurious North Face special edition costs $39,800.
