Apple crumble cake with walnuts
Ingredients:
- 1.4 kg juicy apples, like Ligol or Champion,
- 20 mL lemon juice,
- 875 mL cake flour,
- 85 g walnuts,
- 10 mL vanilla sugar,
- 115 g confectioner's sugar,
- 5 mL baking powder,
- 5 mL cinnamon,
- 2 pinches ground cloves,
- 2 egg yolks,
- 30 mL 18% sour cream,
- 200 g butter.
Instructions:
- Wash, peel, and dice the apples. Mix with lemon juice and sauté in a pan until soft.
- Chop the walnuts and place them in a bowl.
- Add flour, cinnamon, cloves, chopped butter, vanilla sugar, and confectioner's sugar. Mix the dry ingredients, then add the egg yolks and sour cream.
- Use the mixer again, then knead the dough with your hands.
- Divide into two parts (one slightly larger, the other smaller), cover with plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator.
- After half an hour, take out the dough. Press the larger part into a baking paper-lined form. Evenly spread the dough to form the base. Bake for 20 minutes at 175°C.
- Then remove the cake and spread the prepared apples on top.
- Cover them with the second, smaller part of the dough – crumbled.
- Place back in the oven and bake for another 35 minutes.
- Let cool, slice, and sprinkle with confectioner's sugar on top. Enjoy!
