On late Tuesday night, services in Makhachkala were put on high alert after receiving a notice about a black SUV, from which a man got out and said there would be a shooting on the street. People began to flee in panic. This is another incident in the region, where an attack occurred over the weekend, killing 20 people.

After reports of an armed man appeared, police in Makhachkala conducted checks on several streets. People present were urged to leave the area. The attacker was said to be near one of the city's squares. Recordings showing police cars appeared online.

A representative of the local authorities told the state agency TASS that after several hours, the police removed the cordon around University Square in central Makhachkala.

However, Russian media reported that services continued to inspect and stop suspicious vehicles. All efforts aimed to prevent a repeat of Sunday's situation.

Alert in Russia. Suspect detained

The suspect is now in police custody. The woman who informed the services stated that she and her friend were sitting on a bench near a cafe when a black SUV parked nearby.

Three men got out of the SUV, and one of them approached the girls and told them to "run because there would be a shooting here now".

The detained man stated that it was "a kind of joke".

Getting out of the car, I commented that it is now a dangerous time to go out, various things are happening. It turns out that these girls misunderstood me and gave false information," said the 27-year-old detainee.

Attack in dagestan. 20 people dead

Let's recall that 20 people were killed, and 46 were injured in Sunday's attack in Dagestan.

How the attack was carried out resembles tactics used by Islamist groups, which were particularly active in the Russian Caucasus in the early 21st century.

As highlighted by the Baza channel on Telegram, among the attackers in Dagestan were two sons of the head of the Sergokalin district in Dagestan, Magomed Omarov: Osman and Adil Omarov.

According to Baza, Omarov senior was taken to the police, and his house was searched. At the same time, the head of the Sergokalin district was not officially detained.
