Although probably few people pay attention to exactly when they brush their teeth in the morning—whether they do it right after waking up, before breakfast, or after—it turns out that this has a significant impact on the enamel. Dr. Shaadi Manouchehri shared important points on social media that will protect the enamel from damage.
When to brush teeth in the morning?
Most people ignore the order of the morning routine. This mistake can cost us dearly.
In a video on her Instagram profile, Dr Shaadi Manouchehri said never brush your teeth after breakfast, adding that brushing your teeth before eating is much better.
Why? Brushing your teeth right after breakfast slowly damages the enamel.
When we wake up in the morning, we have a lot of bacteria in our mouths that need to be brushed off before eating breakfast, added Dr Shaadi Manouchehri.
Do not brush your teeth after coffee
Dr Manouchehri did not only advise brushing teeth before breakfast. The dentist also emphasized that a common mistake is brushing teeth right after drinking coffee, which is more harmful than brushing after breakfast.
She stressed in the same video that you should not brush your teeth after drinking coffee, explaining that brushing after consuming anything acidic harms dental health.
She further instructed us to wait at least 30-60 minutes after drinking coffee. You don’t have to brush your teeth right away. Just rinse your mouth with mouthwash or drink water.
She doesn’t recommend brushing her teeth after drinking coffee because of its acidity. Coffee is one of the main causes of enamel erosion, which leads to tooth discolouration. Teeth may turn yellow, and regaining their white colour may be difficult.
