Many people can't imagine a morning without coffee—to the extent that they consider it their "first breakfast." Although it has been claimed that coffee might be harmful to health, nothing could be further from the truth. Thanks to caffeine, coffee not only helps increase energy levels, but it is also rich in antioxidants, potassium, and B vitamins, offering strong antioxidant potential. It may also provide protection against atherosclerosis, strokes, or heart attacks.

Add a pinch to your coffee

Boosting energy levels is not the only benefit. We can safely add other ingredients to coffee, which can enhance its effects. It's not about milk, which is one of the most commonly added items to this drink. If you are looking to stabilize blood sugar and accelerate fat burning, try adding cinnamon.

Cinnamon has a thermogenic effect that aids in fat burning. Similarly, coconut oil and clarified butter can also increase the rate of calorie burning. This is due to MCT fats, which are converted into energy.

Coffee with "liquid gold"

If you want your coffee to keep you feeling full longer and not be too acidic, you can add olive oil, also known as "liquid gold." Just half a teaspoon (approximately 2.5 millilitres) of olive oil in coffee can improve metabolism, reduce inflammation, and alleviate constipation. However, it's important that the coffee does not contain any other ingredients, such as sugar, cream, or milk.

Note! Consuming coffee with added olive oil in excess may have a laxative effect.

It's also worth considering the best time to drink coffee. As it turns out, the optimal time is not an hour after getting out of bed. This is due to cortisol, which is highest 45 minutes after waking up. You should drink coffee only two hours after waking up. Otherwise, you might not experience its stimulating effect fully.
