Woody Harrelson's father has been in the spotlight again recently, thanks to Joe Rogan mentioning his name on his podcast. The American presenter, comedian, and former athlete is known for his extreme, right-wing views. In his famous podcast (with over 17 million subscribers on YouTube), he regularly presents new conspiracy theories. In one of the recent episodes, he suggested that the killer of John F. Kennedy could have been the actor's father, Woody Harrelson.
Woody Harrelson's father was jailed for murder
Joe Rogan discussed various investigative findings related to the death of the former U.S. president on the podcast. For the record, Lee Harvey Oswald was accused of Kennedy's assassination, and two days after his arrest, he was shot in jail by Jack Ruby. Over the years, the case has been surrounded by numerous controversies and conspiracy theories. A specially appointed commission concluded that Oswald was the assassin, but there was likely another shooter, and there was also talk that the president had fallen victim to a conspiracy. This opened the door to various speculations for years.
Rogan said on the podcast that he doesn't believe what can be read in books about this story. "There's other people like Woody Harrelson's father apparently was supposedly involved," the social media star said. "Woody Harrelson's father was a bad person, a bad guy, like an assassin—known murderer," he added.
The editorial team at "Newsweek" asked the actor's managers for a comment, but none was provided. The story of Charles Harrelson is intriguing for a reason. His son was only 11 years old when he heard on local radio that his father had been accused of murder and was a contract killer. Charles's first assignment was reportedly in 1968 from a carpet salesman who wanted his rival dead. The case came to light, and Harrelson Sr. was sentenced to 15 years in jail. He was released after 5 years for good behaviour.
Not one, but two victims
Shortly after, Charles was accused of another murder - he was said to have killed a state judge. A drug dealer allegedly paid Harrelson $250,000 to kill Judge John Wood in 1979. Charles shot him with a hunting rifle. The killer was caught, tried, and sentenced to two life terms.
In an interview with "The Guardian," Woody Harrelson said that since he turned 20, he had been in contact with his father and tried to get him out of prison. He spent several million dollars on lawyers. In an interview with "People," he admitted, "This might sound odd to say about a convicted felon, but my father is one of the most articulate, well-read, charming people I’ve ever known."
