Volkswagen ends T‑Roc Cabrio production amid strategic shifts
Volkswagen has announced plans to end the production of the T-Roc Cabrio model. The future of the Osnabrück plant, where it is manufactured, remains uncertain.
The T-Roc Cabrio, the quirkiest and last convertible from Volkswagen, will cease production no later than 2027. This move is part of a strategy to simplify the manufacturer's portfolio.
In addition to the convertible, another model will be removed from the lineup. This refers to the Arteon Shooting Brake, which will be discontinued in 2026. Earlier in 2023, the four-door version of the model was withdrawn.
Currently, the fate of the Osnabrück factory producing the T-Roc Cabrio remains uncertain. However, given the company's cost-cutting and layoff plans, its closure cannot be ruled out. This is particularly relevant as the Porsche Boxster and Cayman models produced there are also nearing the end of their market presence.
Volkswagen also intends to reduce its workforce in Germany by more than 35,000 employees by the end of the decade. The Wolfsburg plant will be directly affected by these changes, and production of the Golf hatchback and station wagon will be moved to Mexico in 2027.
