Black seed oil, known as "the pharaohs' gold," has been valued for its health benefits since ancient times. The pharaohs considered it the key to health and longevity. So why have we forgotten about such a valuable product? It's time to get to know and appreciate black seed oil, which is not only an elixir of youth but also an effective remedy for allergy problems affecting many of us.

Black seed oil is extracted from the seeds of the Nigella sativa plant, known as black cumin. This plant, grown primarily in Asia and Africa, is widely used in folk medicine worldwide. In ancient times, black seed oil was used as a remedy for jaundice, toothaches, and even as an antidote for snake bites. Today, it is not only a popular dietary supplement but also a valued agent for alleviating allergy symptoms. It is worth noting that the anti-allergic properties of black seed oil have been scientifically proven.

What does black seed oil help with?

Black seed oil is characterized by its dark brown colour and intense, spicy aroma. It is rich in nutrients such as fatty acids, proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins (e.g., A, B1, B2, C, E), and minerals (e.g., calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc). These components exhibit anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, and antioxidant properties.

Black seed oil can lower blood cholesterol and blood pressure, reducing the risk of heart disease. Furthermore, it has a positive effect on the digestive system. It alleviates symptoms of reflux, stomach ulcers, duodenal ulcers, and food poisoning. It also supports liver function and protects against Helicobacter pylori bacteria, which cause ulcerative diseases.

The essential oil present in black seed oil consists of, among others: dithymoquinone, thymohydroquinone, limonene, trans-anethole, carvone, thymol, and thymoquinone. The latter is responsible for the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of this product and makes black seed oil capable of inhibiting histamine production, the compound responsible for the body's allergic reactions.

Regular consumption of black seed oil causes the immune system to stop reacting aggressively to contact with allergens, eliminating unpleasant symptoms. This product can be used internally and externally, aiding in the treatment of acne, atopic dermatitis, eczema, or allergic rashes.

Black seed oil will also be helpful in the case of seasonal allergies, which are particularly troublesome and annoying in spring and summer. Thymoquinone alleviates allergy symptoms such as chronic runny nose, tearing eyes, and rash. Additionally, it improves well-being and effectively supports desensitization therapy (with regular use).

How to use black seed oil?

The dosage of black seed oil depends on age, health condition, and purpose of use. It's always worth consulting this matter with a doctor. This product can be given to children, but only if they are over a year old. After 12 months, a daily dose of up to 1 mL can be given, and children aged 2 to 3 should consume no more than 2.5 mL per day. School-age children can be given 5 mL once a day. For adults, the dosage is 15 mL per day.

When choosing black seed oil in the store, make sure it is unrefined, unfiltered, and cold-pressed. Such oil contains the highest amount of thymoquinone, the compound responsible for the anti-allergic properties of black cumin. Black seed oil is best consumed during meals to mitigate its intense taste.
