Ukrainian strike sinks Russian ferry carrying fuel tanks

A railway ferry attacked by Ukrainian forces, carrying 30 fuel tanks, sank in the port of Kavkaz in the Krasnodar Krai in southwestern Russia, reported Russian media, citing local authorities. The first videos have appeared online.

Earlier, authorities reported that a fire broke out in the port of Kavkaz as a result of the Ukrainian attack on the ferry loaded with fuel tanks. A firefighting train was directed there. Later, it was reported that there were no fire outbreaks in the port area.

At the time of the attack, five people were on board the vessel, and their fate is unknown, wrote the propaganda agency RIA Novosti, quoting rescue services. The Telegram channel Baza, however, reported 15 people on the ferry. Port workers were evacuated.

The Meduza service, citing the Krymsky Veter Telegram channel, wrote that the ferry was hit by a Ukrainian missile.

The port of Kavkaz is located near the Kerch Bridge, which connects the Krasnodar Krai with annexed Crimea. Meduza reported that the bridge had been temporarily closed.

Russian troops use ferries to transport military cargo to Crimea, explained Krymsky Veter. Recordings of the ferry attacked by Ukrainian forces were published on social media.

Since Sunday, a fuel base in Proletarsk in the Rostov Oblast in southwestern Russia, which was attacked by Ukrainian drones, has also been burning.
