Ukrainian prosecutor names Russian commander in hospital attack
Attorney General of Ukraine, Andrij Kostin, reported that Sergei Kobyłasz, the commander of the Russian Air Force, was involved in planning and executing the attack on the Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital in Kyiv. He is the one who allegedly ordered the operation.

On Tuesday, September 10, Andrij Kostin announced that the cooperation between the General Prosecutor's Office and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) led to the identification of one of the key individuals involved in organizing and carrying out the attack on the hospital.
Gen. Sergei Kobyłasz, the former commander of the Russian Aerospace Forces' long-range aviation, ordered the use of a Tu-95 bomber with an X-101 cruise missile on July 8 to conduct the attack.
This attack, as Kostin stated, took the lives of two civilians: a doctor and the grandfather of one of the young patients, additionally injuring 34 people, including nine children. The prosecutor emphasized that the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine has already initiated an investigation into Kobyłasz, and the International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for him for attacks on energy infrastructure.

Kostin also noted that investigators in Ukraine are still gathering evidence against other individuals who may be involved in the attack on the children's hospital. These actions are supported by the fact that the SBU has classified the mentioned attack as a war crime, opening a criminal case in this matter.
Ukraine's Health Minister, Viktor Lasko, revealed that at the time of the attack, there were 627 children in the facility. The Prosecutor's Office and the SBU continue to take actions aimed at holding the perpetrators of this act accountable.
The attack on the children's hospital in Kyiv took place in early July 2024. President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, issued a statement highlighting that Russia must be held accountable for its actions. - It is very important that the world does not remain silent now and that everyone sees what Russia is and what it is doing, he mentioned.
