The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced on Telegram that Ukraine is preparing sanctions against Georgia due to its rapprochement with Russia. Zelensky emphasized that "it's simply disgraceful" what the Georgian government is doing now against its own people.
- When Moscow praises this government in Georgia, it is clear for whom they are now working in Tbilisi and for whom they are suppressing these protests. Certainly not for Georgia, - stated the President of Ukraine.
Zelensky noted that Ukraine is collaborating with European and other partners on specific legal actions.
In Tbilisi and other cities in Georgia, protests have been ongoing since November 28 against the policies of the ruling Georgian Dream party. Protesters oppose the decision to suspend talks on joining the EU until 2028.
