Tyson offered CAD 980m for rematch; must KO Jake Paul swiftly
According to media reports, Saudi Minister Turki Alalshikh offered Mike Tyson as much as 980 million Canadian dollars for a rematch with Jake Paul, provided Tyson wins within the specified time. This proposal came after the November fight between these two boxers.
The decision of Paul's unanimous victory over Tyson in November resonated widely and stirred a lot of emotions, much like the fight itself.
Alalshikh, the chairman of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority and known for his substantial investments in boxing, reportedly said that Jake Paul "is a joke." The minister offered Tyson 980 million Canadian dollars but only on the condition that he "agrees to fight Jake Paul this time in a real fight and wins by KO in a maximum of three minutes."
Although there is no official confirmation of this offer from Alalshikh himself, the information appeared on the popular Instagram profile FTTV, which was the first to quote these words.
This is how he called the Paul-Tyson fight
Not only Alalshikh was disappointed with the result of the first fight. Famous football player Michael Irvin, who watched the duel up close, called it a "lie."
He even suggested that the contract might have prevented Tyson from using his characteristic punches.
I didn’t see one patented uppercut by Mike Tyson. Uppercut - said Irvin.
For now, it's unclear if Mike Tyson will agree to a rematch under such conditions. However, the sum of 980 million Canadian dollars and the pressure to win in three minutes put the fight in a completely new light. If the offer turns out to be true, we may witness one of the most spectacular and costly fights in boxing history.
