Seventeen passengers had to undergo surgery, he added.
"Happy to be alive"
Passengers who recounted the events on board following the emergency landing in Bangkok said that some passengers and crew were thrown around the cabin, sustaining various—and often bloody—injuries as a result.
Josh Silverstone, one of the Singapore Airlines flight passengers, told CNN that when he left the hospital on Wednesday evening, he was "happy to be alive".
As a result of the incident, a 73-year-old British man died.
The flight's 143 passengers and crew members arrived in Singapore on Wednesday morning on a replacement aircraft sent by Singapore Airlines.
