Trump hints at bold U.S. expansion plans at Nevada rally
Donald Trump never ceases to surprise. During a Saturday rally in Nevada, the American President stated that the United States "might be an enlarged country pretty soon." Previously, Trump's comments included the desire to take control over Greenland and the Panama Canal, and even the annexation of Canada.
Trump revisited suggestions of U.S. territorial expansion during Saturday's rally in Las Vegas, which provided an opportunity to express gratitude for his electoral victory in Nevada.
- "We may be a very substantially enlarged country in the not too distant — Isn't it nice to see - for years, decades, we’re the same size to the square-foot, probably got smaller actually but we might be an enlarged country pretty soon," he said.
Even before his presidency began, Trump did not rule out the intervention of American troops in Greenland, which he perceives as part of the USA. He also stated that the Gulf of Mexico should be renamed to American, and threatened to take control over the Panama Canal. He furthermore suggested that Canada could become part of the USA.
USA outside WHO. Trump did not rule out a return
During his appearance in Las Vegas, Trump also addressed the decision for the United States to leave the World Health Organization (WHO). - "Seemed a little unfair to me, so that wasn't the reason, but I dropped out...China pays $39 million, and we pay $500 million, and China's a bigger country," stated the US President.
He added that WHO proposed lowering the contribution to the level of China's, but he rejected this proposal. Trump did not rule out, however, that the United States might return to WHO if the organization "cleans" itself up.
The decision to leave WHO is set to take effect in January of the following year.
