Donald Trump has signed an order banning transgender athletes from participating in women's sports competitions. This is the latest step by the American administration in restricting the rights of transgender individuals.

The order signed by Donald Trump mandates federal agencies, including the Department of Justice, to interpret the regulations as a ban on transgender girls and women participating in female sporting categories, reports "The Guardian."

The order, "Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports," immediately enforces the new rules.

Trump stated that with this order, "the war on women’s sports is over." This is another controversial move following earlier actions, such as the ban on gender changes for individuals under 19, recalls "The Guardian."

As White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated, Trump expects that the U.S. Olympic Committee and sports associations will no longer allow transgender men to participate in women’s sports competitions. However, she did not respond to the question of how Trump's new decree will affect the 2028 Summer Olympics, which are planned for Los Angeles.

When signing the order, Donald Trump was surrounded by women and girls.

Meanwhile, the transgender community is already feeling the impacts of the new U.S. administration's actions. Some hospitals in the U.S. have ceased providing care for transgender youth, and prisons have isolated transgender women, informing them they will be transferred to men's prisons after losing access to gender-affirming medical procedures.
