Tragic accident at O'Hare: Woman caught in baggage conveyor belt
A 57-year-old woman's body was found at an American airport. According to reports from uniformed services, the woman might have "gotten entangled" in the baggage conveyor belt. Efforts are currently underway to determine the exact circumstances of her death.
On Thursday morning, a tragic incident occurred at Chicago O'Hare Airport. The incident took place in Terminal 5, where emergency services were urgently called in response to a report of a woman who was "trapped in a machine."
Upon arrival, rescuers discovered that the woman was stuck in the conveyor belt used for transporting baggage. An airport employee who realized something was wrong immediately reported the situation and notified the authorities.
The woman died on the spot. Unfortunately, the specific cause of her death has not yet been disclosed, nor has her identity been released. It is only certain that she was 57 years old and was not employed by any of the companies operating at the airport, which may suggest that she could have been a passenger.
Police informed that the surveillance camera recordings show that the woman entered the baggage area of the airport at 5:27 AM ET. This area, where belts transport passenger luggage to and from planes, is strictly controlled and accessible only to authorized personnel. According to information provided by "The Guardian," unauthorized individuals are not allowed to be in this part of the airport.
Woman died at the airport
At the time the woman entered the baggage area, there were no other people present. As reported by American media, the surveillance camera recordings, however, did not provide detailed information about the events that took place after she entered the area. The police do not have clear data on what happened to the woman over the next five hours.
Police spokesman Nathaniel Blackman explained that no one was monitoring the camera feed in real-time. Only after the woman's body was found did investigators analyze the recorded footage. A further investigation is currently underway to determine how the woman entered the baggage area and the circumstances of her death.
