Shark attacks in Egypt

The Egyptian Environment Ministry confirmed the incident, which is another in a series of shark attacks in the Red Sea region. In 2023, a Russian died in a similar attack, and in 2022, two women lost their lives near the Hurghada resort.

Previous years also brought tragic events. In 2020, a Ukrainian boy lost an arm, and an Egyptian guide lost a leg. In 2018, a shark killed a Czech tourist at a beach on the Red Sea.

The series of shark attacks in Egypt raises concerns about the safety of tourists visiting this popular region. Local authorities are taking measures to enhance beach safety, but such incidents still occur.

The Egyptian Environment Ministry regularly monitors the situation and implements precautions to minimize the risk of further attacks. Tourists are also informed of potential threats and safety recommendations for swimming in the sea.
