Tragedy strikes after Novi Sad railway station roof collapse
Part of the railway station roof in Novi Sad, Serbia, collapsed. At least one person was killed, and several others were injured, according to local television reports.
Serbian media stated that the accident occurred just before 6 a.m. Eastern Time. Ambulances, fire trucks, and heavy machinery for clearing debris were dispatched to the scene.
One person died, and many were injured.
The facility was recently reopened after renovation
As media outlets indicate, the facility was recently under renovation. The first renovation occurred in 2021, but after several months, another one was deemed necessary. The official reopening of the station took place on July 5, 2024.
In response to the situation, the Minister of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure, Goran Vesić, interrupted his working visit to Montenegro.
