Many Canadians love garlic sauce. It goes great with homemade pizza on thick, yeast dough, salads, toast, and meats. One simple addition will make its taste jump to a completely new level that even the sauce from your favourite restaurant cannot match.

In my house, there is certainly no shortage of garlic sauce lovers. It always appears on the table next to roasted or grilled meats, goes into a pasta salad with chicken and corn, and the children excitedly spread a thick layer on homemade mushroom casseroles. Preparation seems simple, after all, it is just garlic, yogurt, and a dash of mayonnaise. However, I add one ingredient that seemingly does not fit the distinctive dip. For years my garlic sauce was considered the best, and when I revealed my secret, everyone makes it the same way.

Garlic sauce - simple recipe

A good garlic sauce starts with a good base, which is the garlic itself. It is worth choosing Canadian garlic because it has the most aroma and flavour, and on top of that, it did not have to travel a long way before being turned into homemade sauce on your table. It’s a shame to pay for an imported product when garlic in Canadian gardens is even tastier.

The secret of my sauce lies in an unusual addition - a bit of honey. At first glance, it looks strange, garlic sauce with honey. However, it is a masterful combination, as honey enhances the flavour and, in the right amount, definitely does not overwhelm the taste of the dish.

Ingredients:

  • 200 mL of plain yogurt,
  • 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise,
  • 2 cloves of garlic,
  • half a teaspoon of honey,
  • salt and pepper to taste,
  • chopped parsley or chives (optional).

Instructions:

  1. Transfer the yogurt to a bowl and add the mayonnaise.
  2. Press the garlic through a garlic press. The number of cloves can be adjusted to your preference.
  3. Add honey, salt, pepper, and chopped herbs, and mix thoroughly.

A simple and tasty garlic sauce with a bit of honey is ready. Enjoy!
