Tea bags to the rescue: Combatting shoe odour naturally

You don't have to be a tea lover to appreciate its versatile applications. Beyond brewing a fragrant cup, tea can be used for various household tasks. One example is eliminating shoe odour using tea bags.

The unwanted smell that emanates from inside shoes is due to an accumulation of sweat and bacteria. When feet are enclosed in shoes for extended periods, they release moisture, which soaks into the material. Combined with high temperatures, this creates an ideal environment for the growth of bacteria and microorganisms. As a result, an unpleasant shoe odour can develop and even transfer to your feet.

Tea will refresh the inside of shoes

Herbs have a remarkable ability to absorb odours. People who struggle with unpleasant smells from inside their shoes can effectively solve this problem with tea. How do you do it?

To eliminate bad smells from shoes, simply place a dry tea bag (preferably fruity) in each shoe and leave it overnight. By the next day, your shoes should smell fresh and pleasant.

If the problem persists, repeat this procedure over several days until the issue is entirely resolved. It's crucial to regularly replace the tea bags to ensure the maximum refreshing effect.

How to care for shoes to keep them fresh longer?

Besides using tea as an odour absorber, it's also essential to ensure proper ventilation of your footwear. After each wear, place shoes in a well-ventilated area so they can "breathe". Regular washing and drying of insoles may prove crucial.

It's important to thoroughly clean both the inside and outside of the shoes. Shoes made of eco-leather and leather are easy to keep clean. A lightly dampened cloth with some soap is enough to wash them. For sports shoes, you can use dishwashing liquid. Just add 2-3 drops of the liquid to warm water, soak a cloth in it, and rub until the desired effect is achieved.

Choosing the right socks is equally important. It's best to opt for those made from natural materials, as they ventilate the foot well and limit perspiration. This way, you avoid moisture, and your shoes will stay fresh longer.
