The military base in Cologne has its own water supply. A Bundeswehr spokesperson stated that electronic sensors were triggered on Wednesday evening. When a patrol was dispatched, a person was spotted fleeing but was not apprehended.

During the search, a hole in the fence was discovered. As reported by "Der Spiegel," an investigation into potential sabotage has been launched.

Water contamination is suspected. The Bundeswehr received several reports of stomach issues. The barracks were closed, and soldiers and civilians working at the facility were prohibited from drinking tap water.

Problems at another base?

Media also reported that a similar incident allegedly occurred at the NATO airbase in Geilenkirchen, where Alliance reconnaissance aircraft are stationed. However, a spokesperson dismissed these reports, emphasizing that only the security level was raised. The facility's water was tested and found to be fine.

In recent months, there have been numerous sabotage and attempted sabotage incidents across Europe, including at military facilities. Many arrests have been made in these cases. According to investigators, the actions are being carried out on behalf of Russian intelligence services.
