Six bodies of hostages who were abducted to the Gaza Strip by Hamas on October 7, 2023, were brought to Israel on Tuesday. Among them is Alex Dancyg's body.

The information was provided by the Israeli army in a statement on platform X, thereby confirming earlier media reports.

These are the bodies of Nadav Popplewell, Yaakov Buchstaw, Yoram Matzger, Haim Peri, Avraham Munder, and Alex Dancyg - the statement said.

Alex Dancyg, born in Warsaw in 1948 to a family of Holocaust survivors, held both Polish and Israeli citizenship. In 1957, he emigrated to Israel with his parents. There, he joined the kibbutz movement, served in the army, and later completed his studies in history. Since 1990, he worked at the Yad Vashem Institute in Jerusalem, which is dedicated to Holocaust remembrance and education.

"Kibbutz Nir Oz reports with great sorrow the death of Avraham Munder at the age of 79, who died in captivity after months of both physical and psychological torture," stated the kibbutz, from which Munder, Dancyg, Peri, and Matzger were abducted. The others were kidnapped from Kibbutz Nirim.

At the beginning of August, the Israeli army assessed that over time, the likelihood of obtaining intelligence on the hostages would increase. However, chances of survival for the kidnapped individuals would decrease.

During the Hamas terrorist attack on southern Israel, nearly 1,200 people were killed, and 251 were abducted. In Kibbutz Nir Oz, a massacre occurred, resulting in many residents losing their lives or being kidnapped.
