According to documents obtained by the Daily Mail, the lawyers of 36-year-old English singer FKA Twigs accuse 38-year-old actor Shia LaBeouf of avoiding providing evidence. They claim that LaBeouf "has been egregiously evasive and nonresponsive," emphasizing that he has only provided nine pages of documents, thereby delaying the proceedings.
"It appears that LaBeouf has something to hide, as LaBeouf has suspiciously claimed he no longer has any other responsive documents in his possession or control, as he lost or misplaced his electronic devices, or destroyed relevant information prior to the initiation of this action," reads the lawsuit.
Conversely, the lawyers of FKA Twigs (real name: Tahliah Debrett Barnett) emphasize that the artist "has produced voluminous responsive documents and substantive written responses."
The singer's lawyers also accuse LaBeouf of attempting to delay the trial. They claim he waited until the last moment to set dates and "inexplicably refuses to be deposed first," which perplexes them.
The lawsuit notes that for FKA twigs, as a "resident of the United Kingdom," hearings in California require planning and are highly inconvenient.
LaBeouf’s attorney, Shawn Holley, stated in a message sent to the "Daily Mail": "This dispute concerns whose deposition is to proceed first and nothing more. Ms. Barnett's counsels' attempt to turn a very simple issue into something sinister is unfortunate." According to court documents, the deposition was postponed to October 25, though it is unclear which party will be deposed that day.
A relationship ended in scandal
The couple began dating in 2018 while working on the film Honey Boy. LaBeouf played a fictional version of his father, and FKA Twigs had a minor role. They broke up in 2019.
In December 2020, FKA Twigs filed a lawsuit in the Los Angeles Superior Court accusing LaBeouf of "relentless" sexual, physical, and emotional abuse and knowingly infecting her with a sexually transmitted disease. LaBeouf denies all accusations.
