Secrets to keeping your Christmas tree fresh all season
Some people have already started searching for the perfect Christmas tree. Once you've chosen a specific tree, ensuring it lasts as long as possible in your home is important. Fortunately, it's easier than you might think.
The Christmas tree is undoubtedly one of the symbols of the holiday season. Both children and adults love it, and decorating it brings great joy to everyone. It's no surprise that in many homes, it appears as early as the beginning of December. How can you enjoy it for several weeks? Find out below.
Trim the tree. You'll thank yourself later
When buying a Christmas tree, keep in mind that it may have been cut several weeks earlier. Unfortunately, this might mean it won't last as long as we'd like. However, there's an easy way to remedy this.
Simply trim the trunk a bit before placing it in the stand. Then, you should make two or three holes in it, spaced at equal intervals. A drill with a thick bit will be useful for this. Remember that the holes should be about 4 centimetres deep, allowing for better water absorption.
Finally, all that's left is to pour water into the stand and place the tree in your chosen spot. Still, it's worth remembering to water it regularly.
A mixture to strengthen the needles
Sometimes the tree we chose loses its needles at an alarming rate. It turns out there's a way to prevent this, using products found in almost every home.
Dissolve 1 tablespoon of sugar in 500 millilitres of water. Use this mixture to water the tree, and you're done. Sugar contains many nutrients that will help strengthen your tree. The placement is also important; Christmas trees do not like high temperatures, so it's better to avoid placing it near a radiator.
