A scorpion stung a Shein customer

The victim's neighbour alerted the police, and the 25-year-old woman was transported to the University Hospital in Marburg. Officers secured the now-deceased scorpion and handed it over to doctors to determine the appropriate treatment for the patient. The medical report indicated swelling at the sting site.

Herpetologist Chris Newman from the National Centre for Reptile Welfare identified the scorpion species as Olivierus martensii, which is native to China and Manchuria. He noted that, while the sting of this scorpion generally does not pose a health threat to adults, children and the elderly might be more susceptible to its effects.

In a statement, the Chinese company stated that it received with concern the information about the incident raised in media reports and contacted the customer to offer its support. Her well-being is the top priority, and Shein wishes her a speedy recovery.
