Russian retiree weds, then volunteers for warfront duty
A 76-year-old man from Russia decided to walk down the aisle after 18 years in a relationship with his partner. However, it turned out that love for his partner wasn't the greatest priority in his life. Instead of a peaceful and blissful old age by his beloved's side, the senior chose the battlefield.

Russians often surprise with their love and loyalty to their homeland, even though it offers many of them only poverty or destruction. The latter is often carried out through the mass conscription of people to the front line. Apparently, the Russians are already short of soldiers since they've accepted a certain 76-year-old man into their ranks.
According to the portal mk.ru, the residents of the village of Amazar, Viktor Vazhinin and Alena Jakimova, who have been living together for 18 years, decided to exchange marital vows. This took place just before the already planned deployment of the 76-year-old to the Donbas.
Russian pensioner volunteers for war
The ceremony took place at the registry office. Wedding photos circulated on the web. It's puzzling that the 76-year-old from Zabaykalsky Krai decided to join the military and head to the front line. The man went to the town of Chita, where the military unit is located. Importantly, in this case, we are dealing with a volunteer, not a Russian citizen forced into conscription.
It seems that Mr. Viktor may not fully understand what's happening on the front. The number of Russians who have lost their lives in Ukraine likely exceeds 200,000 by now. It's no wonder that the Kremlin is seeking support from North Korea, as even Russia, with its vast human resources, lacks soldiers. It's surprising that from a pastoral life with his beloved, the 76-year-old chose the front in Donbas.
However, the Russians are proud of themselves, as the information about the marriage was shared by local authorities, likely for propaganda purposes. Some cynics claim that the 76-year-old intentionally went to war after the wedding so that in case of his death, his wife would receive the high compensation entitled to families of the fallen.
