Russian priest condemns North Korean troops in Ukraine conflict
Soldiers from North Korea are reportedly fighting alongside Russia in Ukraine, and initial conflicts have emerged. A recording featuring a Russian Orthodox priest has surfaced online. In it, he claims that the Koreans "brought a plague to the country" and advises soldiers not to heed the "devilish words" of the godless.
In monotheistic religions, there is only one God. In North Korea, however, the leader Kim Jong Un is often revered. The regime compels citizens to recognize atheism as the "state religion," promoting the belief that a Creator does not exist. While there are followers of some beliefs, such as Cheondoism—a blend of various other religions—most North Koreans identify as having no faith.
These issues are what the Russian Orthodox priest finds unacceptable, as highlighted in a recording circulating on social media. The clergyman addresses gathered soldiers, claiming that the Korean soldiers brought a plague with their arrival.
A Russian Orthodox priest on North Korean soldiers: "Do not listen to them"
Our Korean comrades arrived from a distant land where they do not believe in God. They brought with them a certain type of plague. God will punish them for this, but also us, for accepting them into our home. Do not take sin upon your souls. Do not listen to their devilish words," the priest urges the soldiers.
The Russian priest called on the gathered soldiers to guide the Korean newcomers towards God. He concluded by asserting that the Creator sides with the Russians. "The cross is our banner and weapon," the priest stated. Below, you can see the recording.
As has been known for several weeks, North Korean soldiers have arrived in Europe to support Putin's army in the conflict against Ukraine. According to reports from Ukrainian officials, there have already been initial clashes between the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Korean military.
