Republicans call out Harris over alleged fake call stunt
Republicans accuse Kamala Harris of having a fake phone conversation during her campaign event on election night, "Newsweek" reports. Videos are circulating online, with attention drawn to a detail on the phone screen. "Unreal," commented Donald Trump's son.
The recording shows Harris holding a phone to her ear. At one point, the smiling Democratic Party candidate shows the screen to her supporters. The issue is that the camera app is active on the phone at that time. Republicans quickly pointed out this detail, suggesting Kamala Harris wasn't actually having a phone conversation.
Everything about Kamala Harris is FAKE! She can't even make a phone call without lying. What a joke! - writes Marjorie Taylor Greene, a member of the House of Representatives closely associated with Donald Trump, on platform X.
Today,@KamalaHarris pretended like she was on the phone with a voter. She flipped the phone around and you can clearly see she is faking the call because the camera app is open. All she does is LIE. How embarrassing - stated conservative activist Laura Loomer.
Eric Trump, Donald Trump's son, also commented briefly: "Unreal!"
American media outlets are also covering the issue. The "Newsweek" portal contacted Kamala Harris's campaign team to verify if the Democratic candidate was actually on a call. So far, there has been no response.
US elections: Who won?
In the US, vote counting is ongoing, but there are indications that Donald Trump has won. According to the Associated Press, Trump secured 248 electoral votes, while Harris received 214. CNN and Reuters are also projecting a victory for the Republican Party candidate.
Due to the anticipated defeat, Kamala Harris's campaign team announced that the Democratic candidate would not give a speech on election night. Cedric Richmond, co-chair of Harris's campaign, announced that Harris will address her voters on Wednesday morning local time (afternoon Eastern Time).
