Rare Ferrari 248 F1 owned by Schumacher set for auction
RM Sotheby's auction house has prepared a real treat for wealthy Formula 1 enthusiasts. Soon, a Ferrari 248 with chassis number 254 will go up for auction. This is the last configuration in which Schumacher drove for Ferrari.
The showcased race car helped Schumacher achieve many successes on the track. The German champion claimed five victories, took second place three times, secured pole position three times, and set the fastest lap time four times in this car. The machine with chassis number 254 was also the last one in which Schumacher drove for Ferrari just before he first retired from racing.
There is additional evidence testifying to the uniqueness of this example. The 248 model was the first Ferrari V8 in Formula 1 since 1964, and the 2.4-litre engine placed just behind the driver generated from 730 to 785 horsepower, depending on the configuration.
The current owner has had the race car since December 2007. The vehicle's authenticity has been confirmed by a Ferrari Classiche certificate. RM Sotheby's does not disclose the starting bid. However, it is known that this unique item will go up for auction on November 14th at Eastern Time.
