Bread has a history of over 14,000 years. So which bread is best for our health? The favourite in the ranking is undoubtedly Pumpernickel.

Pumpernickel is a dark rye bread with a dense, moist texture and a dark brown colour. It is slightly sweet in taste and smell. It owes its colour and taste to the steaming process during which the starch in the dough caramelizes. Steaming (instead of baking) also contributes to the mentioned moisture of pumpernickel.

Pumpernickel is the best of all breads

Pumpernickel is rich in valuable nutrients. It contains fibre, carbohydrates, plant proteins, lipids, and amino acids. It is also a source of vitamins A, E, K, thiamine, niacin, biotin, riboflavin, and folic acid.

Pumpernickel also contains mineral substances, primarily sodium and potassium, but also calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium.

One advantage of pumpernickel is that it induces a feeling of satiety and quenches hunger for a longer time, which is why it is recommended to be included in weight-loss diets. It will help fight the desire to reach for an unhealthy snack between meals.
