Plane fire in Busan prompts swift evacuation, 3 injured

On Tuesday, a passenger plane caught fire at the Busan, South Korea international airport. As a result of the incident, three people were injured, reports the Yonhap agency.

The local fire department reported that an Air Busan plane en route to Hong Kong from Gimhae International Airport in Busan caught fire. The fire was noticed in the rear part of the aircraft at about 9:26 AM Eastern Time. The Yonhap agency reports that all passengers—a total of 169—along with seven crew members evacuated via the inflatable slide and left the plane.

176 people evacuated

The fire department stated that the first rescue units arrived at the scene at 9:34 AM Eastern Time. "We believe that all 176 people were evacuated, but we searched the interior of the aircraft just in case," the spokesperson said.

During the evacuation, three people suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

The fire managed to spread to the rest of the aircraft and engulfed the entire fuselage.
