In a conversation with Kossuth Radio, Viktor Orban stated that he is looking forward to the upcoming inauguration of Donald Trump in the USA. "From Tuesday, a different sun will rise over the Western world," he commented.

He emphasized that he is viewing 2025 positively and hopes for an end to military actions in Ukraine. He added that he hopes this means the resumption of economic relations with Russia.

"Hungary has performed above its size and weight, and the most important thing now is for Brussels to adapt to the new situation. It’s time to throw sanctions out the window and to create a sanctions-free relationship with the Russians," he remarked.

He also criticized Ukraine and stated that policy towards Kyiv should be conducted differently.

"We must also start to deal with Ukraine through a non-war lens. We are talking about a country that is unable to sustain itself and whose economy is not linked to the EU system," he stated.
