The streaming service Max recently shared a preview of its upcoming productions. In addition to continuing popular shows with new seasons of "The Last of Us,", "The White Lotus," and "And Just Like That," the platform is also preparing new releases. Among them, we will see productions related to the world of DC Comics ("The Penguin," "Creature Commandos"), "Dune" ("Dune: The Sisterhood"), as well as the medical drama "The Pitt."
The "ER" star in a new medical drama
In "The Pitt," Noah Wyle, who previously starred in the legendary series "ER," will play one of the leading roles. The new project "The Pitt" is described as a realistic portrayal of contemporary issues faced by medical workers in the United States today. The main characters will be frontline workers in a modern hospital in Pittsburgh.
Wyle will play the unwavering doctor Michael Robinavitch, also known as Dr. Robby. Interestingly, Wyle is not the only individual associated with "ER" collaborating on "The Pitt." The co-creators of the iconic series, John Wells and R. Scott Gemmill, will be the main producers of the new project, with the latter serving as showrunner. Wyle has also become an executive producer of the series.
Before the start of production, the team shared an official statement thanking Max and Warner's leadership for allowing them to return to telling stories about medical workers. According to Wells, Wyle, and Gemmill, the healthcare field has changed so much over the past 15 years that it deserves a refreshed and realistic portrayal of their daily lives.
As mentioned, the project is set to debut on the Max service in 2025. It will be interesting to see if it achieves even a fraction of the success of its spiritual predecessor.
