Recent days in Russia have been far from calm. Ongoing brutal terrorist attacks have caused the number of wounded and killed to increase systematically. One of the most significant events occurred in Makhachkala, where the assailants killed dozens of police officers and a priest.
Within several hours, terrorists attacked a synagogue and a church in Derbent, a cathedral and a police station in Makhachkala. They later fired on a car in the village of Sergokala. As a result, 19 people died, 15 of whom were officers. This high number of casualties is mainly due to the nearly 30-minute-long shootout.
The state's response should be decisive: for terrorists – the death penalty, for their accomplices – imprisonment, for their relatives and friends – expulsion from government service and a lifetime ban on working in government bodies. Otherwise, we will not defeat this hydra,” called for the application of collective responsibility by Sergey Mironov, the leader of the Fair Russia party, as quoted by "Kommersant".
New recording of the first moments of the attack in Makhachkala
Just a few minutes after the attack, the first recordings showing the assailants appeared on the internet. One of them also shows the moment of the initial struggle of the police officers from Makhachkala, who were caught by surprise by the attack.
The recording also shows how one of the Russian officers, wounded, falls to the ground next to a car. He is probably one of the dozens of wounded and killed police officers in Sunday's attack.
Russian media report that one of the assailants who attacked in Dagestan was Ali Zakarigaev, former chairman of the Fair Russia party branch in the Sergokalinsky district.
