New hybrid vegetable zucchiolo arrives in Canada’s markets
A new hit has appeared on the vegetable market - zucchiolo. It looks like a pumpkin, but it is a combination of two other vegetables - zucchini and cucumber. The unusual vegetable comes from South America and is already available in Canada.
Zucchiolo was created by Spanish biotechnologists from the Beyond Seeds group and the Institute of Agricultural and Fisheries Research and Education. It can be consumed both cooked and raw.
The vegetable, which resembles a pumpkin in shape, comes in several shades - green, light green, and yellow. They differ in taste. The yellow variety is the sweetest.
Even though zucchiolo is a complete novelty on the market, it is already available in some stores in Canada.
