Ghimire Krishna Chhetri, aged 47, was captured by Ukrainian soldiers near Bakhmut. He had no prior knowledge of the existence of such a city. He found himself on the front lines as a means to pay off his debts. Previously, he worked as a security guard on a construction site in Dubai.
The mercenary from Nepal did not anticipate his "job" would be so perilous. He tried to return home but found it impossible.
It is a one-way street. After signing the contract, returning home was extremely difficult. I met other Nepalis there who faced similar issues. No one managed to leave the army, - Ghimire Krishna Chhetri recounted in front of the camera.
The Nepali says the Russians "treated him like an animal"
The man mentions that the Russians treated him appallingly. He had no access to food and couldn't wash properly.
They treated us like animals. It's better to stay home with your family. Participating in this war is not a good way to make money, - says the captured mercenary.
The Nepali appeals to the residents of India and Nepal not to come to the front. He emphasizes that it is extremely dangerous for their health and lives.
It's worth noting that in the footage, the mercenary from Nepal appears relieved at being captured by Ukrainian soldiers. The 47-year-old's relief is understandable, as it may be his only chance to see his family again.
