NATO jets intercept Russian reconnaissance plane over Baltic

Swedish and German military aircraft intercepted a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance plane (NATO code: Coot-A) over the Baltic Sea on Saturday, according to NATO Allied Air Command, which reported this on platform X on Monday.

The operation involved a Swedish JAS Gripen aircraft, which took off from a base in Sweden, and German Eurofighter jets that scrambled from Latvia, to patrol the airspace of the Baltic countries.

"The interception, coordinated by NATO, demonstrated excellent integration of activities within the Alliance," the statement emphasized.
