Morgan Freeman, famed for "The Shawshank Redemption," was seen on November 24 at a dinner with friends at the Giorgio Baldi restaurant in Santa Monica, Los Angeles. The 87-year-old actor opted for a casual look: a flannel shirt, a black cap, and black pants. American media noted that he wore a beige compression glove on his left hand. What is the reason for this?
Morgan Freeman: A serious car accident
A few years ago, at the age of 71, the actor survived a serious accident. It is believed that he fell asleep at the wheel, causing his car to veer off the road. The vehicle flipped over, and he was unconscious when pulled from the wreckage by firefighters. He was hospitalized following the incident.
As a result of the accident, he sustained significant injury and nerve damage to his left hand, leaving it paralyzed. Freeman must wear a special glove to prevent blood pooling in that area. Additionally, the actor suffers from fibromyalgia, resulting in constant shoulder pain and contributing to stiffness.
Despite these challenges, Freeman remains professionally active. He will soon be seen in three new movies, including "Now You See Me 3," where he will reprise his role as Thaddeus Bradley. The actor also appears in the TV series "Lioness" on the SkyShowtime platform.
When asked how he maintains his status in Hollywood, Freeman replied: "Acting is easy. Getting work is hard. So, what you have to do is just keep moving forward. Just keep trying." In a conversation with Jennifer Hudson, who praised his achievements, Freeman modestly stated, "I’m not too far out of the ordinary, I hope."
