Mel Gibson's turbulent comeback: Scandal and controversy return
Oscar-winning actor and director, womanizer, and accused anti-Semite, Mel Gibson's life exemplifies the great success and spectacular downfall of a Hollywood star. In recent years, it seemed that Gibson had regained balance, but he has shown his worst side again.

For more than 25 years, Mel Gibson was regarded as an exemplary husband and father, always accompanied by his wife, Robyn Denise Moore, whom he married in 1980 before becoming famous. Unfortunately, their marriage turned out to be less exemplary than it seemed. Gibson had severe problems with alcohol. Robyn decided on a separation in 2006 after the actor was arrested for drunk driving in Malibu.
Three years later, Mel Gibson's wife filed for divorce when the world learned of his affair with Oksana Grigorieva, who was 14 years younger. The relationship with the Russian pianist and singer ended in a huge scandal when she released recordings in which the star threatened her with death, insulted her, and abused her. A storm swept through the media, excluding Gibson from Hollywood circles for many years.
In recent years, Mel Gibson has settled down; he acts frequently, although he doesn't appear in big Hollywood productions. He directed a great film, "Hacksaw Ridge," and has another, "914 Metres Above the Ground," set to premiere in cinemas in January. He also considered making a sequel to "The Passion of the Christ." However, his recent comment aimed at the United States presidential candidate, Kamala Harris, once again damaged his image.
When asked by a reporter from the American portal "TMZ" if he would vote for Donald Trump in the upcoming elections, Mel Gibson replied: "I think no one will be surprised who I will vote for. It's quite a good guess. I know how it will be if we vote for her. And that's not a good thing. Terrible achievements. There's no policy to talk about. She has the IQ of a fence post."
This comment again landed the actor in trouble. The American media rained criticism down on him. Of course, it's not about who Gibson will cast his vote for, and in Hollywood, supporters of Donald Trump are a definite minority. Unfortunately, the star used one of the insults on which Trump bases his electoral campaign. In speeches, he repeatedly insulted the opponent's intellect, bringing him criticism even from among supporters of the Republican party.
