It is, without a doubt, one of the most enigmatic and extraordinary islands in the world. Lítla Dímun is characterized by unusual meteorological conditions that continuously fascinate everyone—it has its own cloud.

This small island, part of the Faroe Islands, draws attention from people worldwide. Its green slopes are almost always covered with a cloud roof, creating an extraordinarily charming view.

Many travellers, photographers, and tourists dream of seeing Lítla Dímun with their own eyes at least once.

Extraordinary island in the Norwegian Sea

Lítla Dímun is not only the smallest but also the only uninhabited island in the Faroe Islands archipelago. Its area is only 82 hectares, and only sheep live there.

For many, it is enough of an attraction to sail to its shores or admire the fairy-tale view from neighbouring islands. However, there is no shortage of daredevils who want to get to the island. This, however, requires not only favourable weather conditions but also solid physical fitness. Its shores are cliffs, which are a challenge even for experienced climbers.

A city on the top?

The characteristic cloud hovering over Lítla Dímun effectively covers its top. When it's clear, you can see the island has a conical shape.

However, there is a legend that not only the top is hidden in the cloud but also that "between the clouds, there is a city of happy people".

Although impressive, the phenomenon over the island is actually a lenticular cloud, which often appears over mountain peaks.
