Lavrov dismisses Europe's role in Ukrainian peace talks
Sergey Lavrov, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, accuses European countries of wanting to prolong the conflict in Ukraine. He stated that he does not see any role for Europe in peace negotiations.

Sergey Lavrov, Russia's Foreign Minister, stated that Europe should not participate in peace talks concerning Ukraine. According to him, European countries had their chance to resolve the conflict but wasted it. Now, according to the Russian propagandist, they aim to prolong the war.
Lavrov's comments came before his visit to Saudi Arabia, where he is set to meet with U.S. representatives. At the same time, an extraordinary summit convened by President Emmanuel Macron is taking place in Paris.
Lavrov emphasized that Europe should not be present at the negotiating table if it intends to continue the conflict. The message from Moscow today is consistent - the Kremlin does not want Europeans to dictate any terms.
According to Sky News, in the past few hours, Russia's envoy to the UN stated that the UK and the EU should not "in any way" be involved in peace talks. "If they are going to 'beg for' some cunning ideas about freezing the conflict - while...they really mean continuing the war - then why invite them [Europeans] there," he asked, suggesting that European countries intend to "continue the war."
Lavrov reminded that in 2014, when Russia annexed Crimea, Europe failed to do anything. At that time, the Minsk agreements were signed, intended to end the crisis. The Russian minister noted that Europe used that time to arm Ukraine, which he believes was a mistake.
