Kobido massage: Rejuvenating benefits with crucial caveats
Kobido massage is often referred to as a facelift without a scalpel. When used regularly, it offers a host of benefits. However, not every woman should consider it. There are skin types for which such an intense facial massage may not be suitable.

Kobido massage is an intensive facial, head, neck, and décolletage massage originating from Japan. It is also called a facelift without a scalpel because it stimulates the skin to produce collagen and elastin. Additionally, it helps relax muscles and promotes overall relaxation.
Benefits of Kobido Massage
Kobido is based on deep tissue massage, lymphatic drainage, and acupressure. When performed regularly, it helps to smooth out wrinkles, improve facial contours, reduce myofascial tension, eliminate swelling, and even improve sleep quality.
However, it is important to note that Kobido massage is not for everyone. For example, it should be avoided in cases of acute inflammation. Moreover, it may not be suitable for every skin type. Anna Karska, the owner of a chain of massage salons, explained two exceptions in her LinkedIn post.
Kobido massage not for everyone
"Did you know that the intense, lifting facial Kobido massage won't be beneficial for everyone? And I don't mean the obvious contraindications. I bring this up because there's a craze for Kobido, and among women, there's an opinion that the stronger, the better. However, there are circumstances when it's better to substitute intense Kobido techniques with other movements," the expert began.
It turns out that Kobido massage should not be applied to thin, sagging skin. So, how should it be handled?
"It's worth focusing on gentle massage techniques that stimulate circulation and improve skin elasticity. Gentle lifting movements, kneading, and stroking improve blood circulation. Strong pressure and rubbing are avoided; instead, gentle tapping and pinching are used. Mild, draining techniques are ideal, helping also in removing excess water and toxins," writes Karska.
The second case is skin with dilated blood vessels, which also requires special care.
"For skin with visible capillaries, it's important to choose massage techniques that do not irritate the skin or worsen the condition of the vessels. Gentle draining movements towards the lymph nodes improve circulation and reduce swelling. Calming stroking instead of strong pressure and circular movements will protect the skin from excessive heating and burning. Oils that seal vessels, such as rose oil and parsley oil, along with the addition of vitamins C and K, greatly support the skin," explains the owner of the massage salons.
