Kim Ki Nam passed away on Tuesday at 94. North Korean state media attributed his death to old age and multi-organ failure.
As one of North Korea's most enduring officials, Kim was part of a select group that served under three generations of the Kim family: Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il, and Kim Jong Un.
He was among the rare North Korean officials to set foot in South Korea, having headed a funeral delegation 15 years ago following the passing of President Kim Dae Jung, as reported by Time.
Kim Ki Nam took on the role of deputy head of the propaganda department in 1966, advancing to the department's leader 19 years later. He retired seven years ago.
